Day Camp director

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Day Camp Directors (DCD) is responsible for developing, facilitating, and overseeing a

“pop-up” 5-day day camp in Cobble Hill –Fun Times Brooklyn Day Camp by BSG. The DCD’s

scope of responsibilities will include the supervision, guidance, and direction of rotating day

camp staff. The Day Camp Director reports to the Director and Assistant Director. Camp will

run from April 18-22, 2022.

● This job is full time during the week of April 18-22, 2022, located in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.

● Compensation is dependent on experience.

● Headquartered in New York, Baby Sitters Guild (BSG), was established in 1940 to

provide childcare to local area families, and to partner with companies providing

childcare as an employee benefit.

We are seeking a self starter who is passionate about working with children. The Day Camp

Director will report to the Director.

Responsibilities:

● Oversee all camp operations, including supervising and directing all staff

● Track and assign staff to daily/weekly roles

● Develop and direct programs and activities for Fun Times Brooklyn

● Create and develop camp curriculum and daily schedules

● Supervise daily check-in and check-out of all Day Campers

● Run daily staff meetings and check-ins

● Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures

● Abide by all camp policies

● Making sure that our campers are safe and having fun while being nurtured

● Perform all other duties and roles assigned by the Director or Assistant Director

a “pop-up” 5-day day camp in Cobble Hill –Fun Times Brooklyn Day Camp by BSG. The DCC’s

scope of responsibilities will include the supervision and guidance of campers and support for

camp staff. The Day Camp Counselors will report to the Day Camp Director. Camp will run

from April 18-22, 2022.

Responsibilities:

● Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures

● Abide by all camp policies

● Making sure that our campers are safe and having fun while being nurtured

● Perform all other duties and roles assigned by the Director or Assistant Director

Specific Duties

● Leading or supporting games and activities for students during downtime

● Facilitating activities, lessons, art lessons, acting lessons, sports/movement breaks

● Help with pick up and drop off of campers may be needed

● Help with early + after care may be needed

● Making sure campers are accounted for, and prepared for their day

● Throughout the day support campers in activities, moving between activities, snacks,

lunch, bathroom breaks, etc.

● Attending and overseeing all trips to local parks

● Other responsibilities as needed.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to work as part of our team. This individual will work

directly with campers, providing supervision and guidance in all activities. The camp activities

range from art expression, acting, exercise, and more. The role will include

● Has a experience in education or childcare

● Has excellent communication skills

● Is a creative and energetic problem solver

● Works with a sense of urgency and has a strong work ethic

● Is detail oriented with strong communication skills

● Loves children and has experience creating day long activities for children between the

ages of 5 -12 years old.

● Proficient in Google Drive

Time commitment: This position is available from April 18-April 22.

CPR/First Aid Certification preferable.
