Our History

The Baby Sitters Guild, founded in 1940 by a pioneer in the childcare industry, Lynn Lockwood, who understood the childcare needs of families, whether at home or traveling from far away and the value of providing peace of mind to parents with a playful, caring child minder. In this same sprit, The Baby Sitters' Guild changed hands to its current owner, Maria Davalos, who has maintained Mrs. Lockwood's vision and standard for babysitters.

The Baby Sitters' Guild has partnered with many New York families to develop a staff of truly stellar child care givers! The Baby Sitters' Guild is above all a community of sitters who, for the past 82 years have provided thoughtful assignments of sitters to families.

We at The Baby Sitters' Guild understand this and approach each family and child with the intent of learning a bit about them first and creating a targeted and unique childcare experience that reflects the individuality of each of the children who make up the many, many families with whom we’ve worked for the past 82 years!
